Subaúma is a beach village in the municipality of Entre Rios, on the Litoral Norte (North Coast) of Bahia, about 110 km from the Salvador airport. On the Costa dos Coqueiros (Coconut Coast), just past Porto de Sauípe, it is ideal for anyone looking for peace and quiet. In addition, it has a long beach, a river, coconut groves and one of the most beautiful sunsets on the Linha Verde.

Where Subaúma is

The village belongs to Entre Rios, a municipality that is also home to Porto de Sauípe, Massarandupió and Baixio. On the Linha Verde, it lies north of Costa do Sauípe and just a few minutes from Porto de Sauípe.

That is why visitors find a place that is close to the big resorts and, at the same time, far from the crowds. Unlike Praia do Forte and Imbassaí, mass tourism has not arrived yet.

What the beach is like

The village is simple, with local residents, small grocery stores and restaurants. The beach, on the other hand, is long, with light sand and coconut trees. So the late afternoon is the best time of day, when the sun sets among the coconut groves.

However, the sea has currents in several spots. Therefore, swim close to the shore and respect the red flags. For those who prefer calm water, the river is a great alternative, especially for children.

Neighboring beaches: in addition, you can visit Massarandupió, Baixio, Conde and, further north, Mangue Seco.

In the village: the main options are Tree Bies Resort and Pousada Praia de Subaúma.
In Porto de Sauípe: the neighboring village has more guesthouses and vacation rentals.

From October to March, the weather tends to be drier and sunnier. On the other hand, between late March and early September, it rains more. Even so, the village is a good destination all year round, especially for those who want to rest.

How to get to Subaúma

By car: leaving Salvador, take the BA-099 (Estrada do Coco and Linha Verde), with a toll at Abrantes. Then take the BA-506 to the village entrance.
By bus: the Atlântico company departs from the Rodoviária de Salvador (bus station) towards Sítio do Conde, on the “Litoral Norte” line, and passes through the village. Before you go, however, check the schedules on the company’s website.
