Beach Park in Aquiraz: An essential tourist destination
The Beach Park on the Porto das Dunas beach has put Aquiraz on the tourist map.
Located about 30 kilometres from Fortaleza, Beach Park is a tourist complex that includes a chain of hotels.
The importance of Aquiraz
Aquiraz, the first capital of Ceará, is responsible for a significant part of the tourist flow to Fortaleza.
The main attraction is Porto das Dunas beach, where you’ll find Beach Park, Brazil’s largest water park, which won the Brazil Guide’s Attraction of the Year award in 2014.
The complex includes two resorts, and the region has other high-end hotels and several luxury condominiums under construction.
What to do in Aquiraz
It’s worth visiting Prainha in Aquiraz, which has beach huts and a small village where the local lace makers work. It is also worth visiting the Historic Centre, just 6 kilometres away, to gain a better understanding of the town’s history.

- Insano: The park’s flagship, a water slide the height of a 14-storey building, where the brave go down without a float and reach speeds of up to 105 km/h.
- Vaikuntudo: A thrill ride where you and three friends can go down a giant funnel from a height of 25 metres in a shared car.
These are just two of the many extreme options on offer at the park. Go with an open heart and be prepared to have a lot of fun! To relax between activities, you can hire a raft and enjoy the Enchanted Current or Maremoto, the wave pool at the beach park.

- Porto das Dunas: An area of disciplined occupation and great leisure and tourism facilities, enriched by beautiful villas, inns and hotels. It is the location of Beach Park, the largest water park in Latin America.
- Prainha: Located on the Barra do Rio Catu, with clear waters and surrounded by coconut groves, it is famous for its lace makers and peaceful atmosphere, offering accommodation and beach huts.
- Presídio: It stands out for its historical past, where it served as a prison for the Dutch, and for its modern buildings. The infrastructure includes hotels and restaurants surrounded by nature.
- Iguape: Known for its natural beauty, it is very popular during holidays and weekends. It has fixed and moving dunes and a fishing village.
- Barro Preto: Beautiful by nature, with pitches and tents by the sea. The Barraca Energia Erótica by Dom Geovani is famous for the receptiveness and creativity of its owner.
- Batoque: With a long stretch of coastline still to be explored, this beach attracts visitors for the friendliness of its inhabitants and fishing, which is the region’s main activity.
How to get to the beach
Porto das Dunas is the main beach of the city of Aquiraz, located in the metropolitan region of Fortaleza.
Access is easy: from Iracema beach in the centre of Fortaleza, it’s only 24 km to Porto das Dunas and 22 km to the airport. Most tourists visit Beach Park, the largest water park in Brazil.
