This rare plan of Rio de Janeiro is based on the work of D’Apres de Mannevillette, with improvements by Sampson Hall, first mate of the Royal Bishop, and on the plan of Simão Antonio da Roza Pinheiro.
The map shows excellent detail of the harbour with two small profile views and extensive sailing directions.
The route of the Pitt in 1763 and the Royal Bishop are shown, along with numerous soundings.
