Beaches of Sergipe’s southern coast
The beaches of Sergipe’s southern coast, some 163 kilometres long, run from the mouth of the São Francisco River in the north to the Rio Real in the south. Many of these beaches remain almost wild.

How to get there
To reach the south coast area from Aracaju, take the Melício Machado motorway. On the way, take the opportunity to sample coconut water, boiled peanuts and local handicrafts. This route takes you to the enchanting southern coast of Sergipe.
Orla Pôr do Sol
Orla Pôr do Sol, on the banks of the Vaza Barris River, is the first stop. Boats run daily along the beaches and rivers.

Experience on the water
The Vaza Barris River is surrounded by mangroves. As the boat approaches the estuary, the southern coast of Sergipe appears, with small beaches of warm water.
Relaxation and contact with nature
Visitors will find sand banks with natural pools, ideal for relaxation. It’s a perfect place for those who want peace and quiet, away from the noise.

Outstanding beaches on the south coast of Sergipe
1. Caueira Beach and Coqueirinho Beach
- Distance: 30 km from Aracaju, on the SE-100 motorway.
- Location: Parish of Barra dos Coqueiros.
- Features: A quiet holiday beach. The water temperature ranges from 25ºC to 28ºC.
- Activities: At low tide, you can explore by buggy or relax on the Praia do Coqueirinho, surrounded by coconut trees.


2. Abaís beach
- Distance: About 70 km from Aracaju.
- Location: Municipality of Estância.
- Attractions: Known for its good waves, it attracts surfers to the beautiful south coast of Sergipe.
- Activities: Visitors can choose between the rough sea and the tranquillity of a lagoon.

3. Saco Beach

- Location: Municipality of Estância.
- Features: White, soft sand, calm, crystal clear sea with rock formations.
- Activities: Two parts of the beach; one busier and the other quieter, ideal for those seeking peace and quiet.

4. Mangue Seco
- Access: By fast boat from Praia do Saco.
- Distance from Praia do Saco: About 8 km by speedboat.
- Features: Sandbank visible at low tide, washed by the Real River and the sea in this area of the south coast.

5. Tambaquis or Crystal Lagoon

- Distance: 10 km from Praia do Saco.
- Location: Municipality of Estância.
- Attractions: Lagoa Grande, the largest natural lagoon in Sergipe, with the possibility of swimming and feeding tambaquis.
