Located in the Vaza-Barris River, between the municipalities of Aracaju, São Cristóvão and Itaporanga d’Ajuda, Croa do Goré Island is one of the attractions of the region south of Aracaju.

It can be reached via a fishermen’s village, from where speedboats, boats or catamarans depart on 10 to 15 minute journeys, revealing native mangroves, small river islands and unspoilt vegetation.

The Croa do Goré Island is busy at weekends with floating bars and rustic sapé stalls serving fried fish, prawn cakes and broths of oysters, sururu, beans and aratu, among other things.

The island’s peculiar name comes from a well-known local resident: Crôa refers to the sandbank visible at low tide, while Goré is the small crab that hides underground.

The Croa do Goré island has a floating bar offering the best of the region’s gastronomic cuisine.

Visitors can enjoy everything from seafood to caldinhos, pastéis and more, all close to the water.
