Discover Baixio: a hidden paradise on the north coast of Bahia.
Just 124 kilometres from Salvador, along the Linha Verde (BA-099), lies one of the most enchanting destinations on the Bahian coast: the village of Baixio, in the municipality of Esplanada.

Surrounded by lush nature, this village of around 2,000 inhabitants is the ideal place for those seeking quiet, natural beauty and unique experiences.
With easy access and good facilities for visitors, Baixio offers private beaches, protected coconut groves, dunes, panoramic viewpoints and above all, a set of five crystal clear perennial lagoons fed by 14 natural springs – a true ecological oasis!

Trails, lagoons and direct contact with nature
- Lagoa Azul– is one of Baixio’s main attractions.
Visitors can follow guided trails that lead to stunning scenery, including the famous Blue Lagoon, with its warm, transparent waters.
To get there, you have to walk for about 30 minutes inside a private property, with the help of local guides.
The Blue Lagoon has a large bathing area and is surrounded by white sand dunes – an invitation to relax. To protect the environment, access is limited to 35 visitors per day by appointment.
Other lagoons are also surprising:
- Lagoa da Panela – located at Fazenda Baixio, it is perfect for those seeking peace and beauty in a postcard setting.
- Lagoa Verde – with its green, translucent waters, it is ideal for activities such as rowing, stand-up paddling and canoeing. Its size is impressive: the equivalent of four football pitches.
- Lagoa de Inhambupe – where the river meets the sea, creating a quiet, shallow area, ideal for families, with rustic kiosks around the edge.
Viewpoints and memorable experiences
For a spectacular view of the region, visit the Morro do Mamucabo viewpoint, accessible by a sandy track or a 4×4 vehicle. From the top you can see the ocean, coconut groves and lagoons – a natural spectacle.
The nearby Mirante Dedo de Deus offers another privileged view of the town and the coast.
Baixio beach, peace and good food
Praia de Baixio, 16 kilometres long, is perfect for those who love the combination of sea, sun and tranquillity. Its strong waves attract surfers and the beach huts, open mainly at weekends, offer typical snacks and drinks.
Charming accommodation and welcoming facilities
Despite its rustic village atmosphere, Baixio has comfortable hostels, simple and welcoming restaurants and a association of guides who organise tours and guarantee a safe experience. Some accommodation options:
- Aldeola Pousada e Restaurante – with swimming pool, restaurant and family atmosphere, pets allowed.
- Pousada Anga – ideal for relaxing, with bar and swimming pool.
- Pousada Baixio Inn – offers comfortable rooms and a communal kitchen.
- Pousada Recanto Lagoa Azul – perfect for couples and families who want to get in touch with nature.
Baixio awaits you!
Between trails, lagoons, dunes and the sea, Baixio is the perfect destination for those who want to reconnect with nature and live unforgettable moments. A refuge still little explored, but with incredible tourist potential – ready to enchant all visitors.
