Bahia.ws – Tourist Guide to Salvador, Bahia, the Brazilian Northeast and Brazil

Bahia.ws — Travel Guide to Salvador, Bahia, the North-East and Brazil

Bahia.ws was launched in 2009 with a simple aim: to write travel guides that really help those planning to visit the Brazilian Northeast. Over the course of more than 15 years, we have built up one of the largest collections of content on the region — covering Bahia, Alagoas, Ceará, Maranhão, Paraíba, Pernambuco (including Fernando de Noronha and the Archipelago of São Pedro and São Paulo), Rio Grande do Norte (including the Atol das Rocas Biological Reserve) and Sergipe.

How we produce our content

Every guide published on Bahia. ws undergoes our own production and fact-checking process:

  • First-hand knowledge: we prioritise writing about places our team has already visited or follows closely, paying attention to practical details — such as how to get there, where to stay, what to pack — which only those who know the region can describe accurately.
  • Data verification: information such as distances, population figures, prices and opening hours is checked against official sources (IBGE, local councils, state tourism boards) and reviewed periodically, because we know that incorrect information can disrupt someone’s trip.
  • Continuous updating: older guides are revisited and updated as the region changes — new guesthouses, new access rules, changes to infrastructure.
  • Curation of images and videos: when we use third-party material (photos, videos or excerpts from reports), we give due credit to the original author and immediately remove any content for which we do not have authorisation to use — we respect copyright as part of our commitment to transparency.
