Tourist Structure

The Pedra Caída Sanctuary is a large tourist complex with a complete infrastructure, including hotels, restaurants, swimming pools, water slides, trails, cable cars, zip lines and various natural wonders such as waterfalls, caves and canyons.

The total area of the complex is 12,600 hectares, a preserved space that is home to some 25 catalogued waterfalls and a vast green area.

The design of the complex includes suspended wooden walkways to protect the local flora and facilitate access for visitors.

The Pedra Caída Complex is located 36 kilometres from the centre of Carolina and 6 kilometres from the entrance to the Chapada das Mesas National Park.

This place is specially designed for ecotourism and adventure tourism and offers one of the most important waterfalls of the region, the Cachoeira do Santuário, which is an impressive 46 metres high.

Biological diversity

The Pedra Caída Complex is a convergence point between two biomes: the Cerrado and the Amazon.

From the top, visitors can see the valley full of mesas between the undergrowth, while descending the trails to the waterfalls, you can feel the humidity of the rainforest that surrounds the place.

Pedra Caída Sanctuary

Access to the sanctuary involves a 600 metre walk along suspended wooden ramps to the entrance of a gorge with 50 metre high walls.

The trail continues along a 370 metre waterway, culminating in a unique experience when you reach the majestic waterfall.

The rocks of this waterfall, formed over 60 million years, have an organic movement and a silky appearance. The 46 metre waterfall is one of the most impressive in the complex, but the low light and the force of the water make it difficult to take good photographs, making the experience even more unique.

Capelão Waterfall

With a drop of 20 metres, the Capelão Waterfall is accessible via a short footpath, but requires a 4×4 vehicle to reach the start of the path.

Visitors are rewarded with natural beauty and the feeling of being in a magical place.

This waterfall can be reached by vehicle, then a short walk to the entrance of a cave. The water falls 15 metres into a shallow pool and the unique atmosphere is complemented by a smaller, darker cave behind the waterfall.

Adventure Activities

  • Zip lines: The complex has two zip lines, 1200 and 1400 metres long, the longer of which is considered the highest and second longest zip line in Brazil. Access is via a 600 metre climb or by cable car.
  • Cable car: The cable car is the quickest way to reach the ziplines and the pyramid, which is 400 metres up. The 28-minute ride gives visitors a panoramic view of the complex and the National Park.
  • Pyramid: At the highest point of the site is an iron and glass pyramid. This space, now a meditation centre, was designed to provide visitors with positive energy by following a path that symbolises the elimination of negative energies.
